Born in August 29, 1958, Michael Jackson is recognized as one of the world's most successful entertainers. The Inspiration of Marc Laurent

Los Angeles based premium leather designer, Marc Laurent, began working with Michael Jackson in the early 1980's to create a jacket for the "Beat It" video. Collaborating together at the singer's home, Laurent and Jackson began thumbing through magazines until Jackson ran across a shark suit and gloves made of steel chain mail. Inspired by the aesthetic of the shark armor, Jackson and Laurent chose to embellish the jacket with metal mesh detailing at the shoulders and multiple diagonal zippers to enhance the street vibe.
After phenomenal success with the "Beat It" jacket, Laurent was called on once again by Jackson's studio to create a second jacket for the upcoming music video "Thriller." The "Thriller" jacket featured substantial shoulder pads, raglan sleeves, and a V-shaped piecing with winged shoulder to invoke the vampire-like style desired by Jackson's costume designer, Deborah Landis. Both jackets are still two of Michael Jackson's most recognized clothing items.
